New Bedeschi Kangaroo Cranes

Bedeschi is currently supplying two double luffing cranes for a green steel production plant. These are Kangaroo Cranes specifically designed for handling iron ore, which is essential for the DRI and HBI production within the green steel manufacturing process.

What distinguishes Kangaroo Cranes from other similar machines is the integration of the hopper into the gantry structure. This configuration features a double-arm mechanical system that allows the bucket to maintain a nearly horizontal trajectory throughout the operating cycle, reducing unnecessary vertical movements and consequently limiting energy losses and lowering energy consumption compared to traditional cranes configurations.

Integrating the hopper directly into the crane structure speeds up loading and unloading operations, while reducing cycle times and improving the plant’s overall operational efficiency. The hopper is also equipped with an integrated dust suppression system, designed to minimize particulate dispersion during material handling and contribute to a more controlled operating environment.

Below, the 3D image shows the structure of one of the two Kangaroo Cranes in development.
