In October, Bedeschi subsidiary in Australia completed a major reclaimer upgrade at a leading iron ore mine, delivering the project successfully within a tight shutdown window.
The project scope covered 3D scanning of the existing centre chute, DEM simulations to optimize material flow for Hematite and Magnetite, and the detail design of the new upgraded chute. Bedeschi Australia then manufactured the chute, and supplied the new and improved preassembled centre chute complete with liner package and impact table.
Our team provided comprehensive SME and engineering support throughout. It involved 3D modelling of the entire system, overlaying the design onto the client’s 3D scans, and performing clash detection to ensure a perfect fit. All ancillary components, including the skirting arrangement and mounting points, were also supplied by Bedeschi. Accessways were modified to suit the new chute geometry, reducing site work requirements.
The chute was recently installed, with onsite technical assistance provided by Bedeschi, and the first Magnetite has been processed, setting a record for shiploading time. The new design has boosted output capacity by 25% and will reduce downtime from chute blockages.
By partnering with Bedeschi Australia, our client reduced interface risks, shortened the shutdown period, and enjoyed a single point of accountability from concept through to installation.
We are proud to see our Bedeschi Australia chute now installed and performing on port operations reclaimers, with the upgrade set to be implemented on other machines in the next year.
