The project concerns the replacement of an over-40 shiploader used for the loading/unloading of ammonium sulfate at AdvanSix Plant (ex Honeywell), Hopewell, Virginia.

With a capacity of 500 tph and thanks to the latest (and only in the world) design with a double telescopic boom, the new machine allows the client the loading of ships bigger than before, up to 32.000 Tons and 28 m of width, completely covering the ship dimension and granting the maximum efficiency either in terms of volume or time.

All the conveyor belts are completely closed to avoid material spillage and the telescopic chute, installed on the top of the boom, avoids dust emissions during the loading activities.

Due to the material corrosivity, all the parts exposed to said material are in stainless steel. For one of the main parts, the boom shuttle, has been used special stainless steel DUPLEX.

The entrance walkways are in aluminum either to grant resistance to corrosion or weight reduction.

One of the main restrictions of the project was the reduced loading capacity of the quay and the reduced rails clearance that required detailed and in-depth structural analysis and stability calculations.

The machine design, allows a safe control of the air-conditioned cabin equipped with professional seat, granting the highest visibility to the operator of the loading point.
